Lafourche Parish has always been my home; on Sunday, August 29, Hurricane Ida made landfall and ripped through the bayou parishes, uprooting trees, toppling powerlines, and devastating many homes and businesses.

Most of the national coverage has been focused on New Orleans, comparing this storm to Hurricane Katrina. New Orleans shared some of the aftermath of power outages, flooding, and wind damage. However, the epicenter of the impact was felt most profoundly in the bayou and river parishes.

Unfortunately, this area has not received adequate news coverage. Though the resilience of Lafourche Parish's citizens will no doubt recover in time, Relief on the Bayou serves as a little extra help for the area hit hardest by the storm.

Every purchase of Relief on the Bayou will help support the Bayou Community Foundation, a local organization that provides grants and relief to the surrounding area, So in keeping with Lagniappe Exposure's mission of representing the underdog, It makes sense that we focus the attention on someone in need but neglected by the larger public.
